Training of community interpretersProject at a glanceDates and Place08 January 2009, Geneva, SwitzerlandRoom UTA, Uni-Mail Project detailsICVolunteers is looking for voluntary french-speaking community interpreters, in the context of its Languages and Migration project, designed to provide linguistic support to the immigrant community in Geneva. Through this initiative, immigrant families could request a community interpreter to accompany them in matters related to education -- whether it is a meeting with the school authorities, the understanding of the educational system, or other issues where language may create a barrier to education. ICvolunteers will train, free of charge, community interpreters who would then be expected to voluntarily accompany families in their communication with the school system. An information session will be held on 8th of January 2009, at Room UTA, Uni-Mail (8-10 passage Baud-Bovy), in Geneva, to explain the project in detail, as well as to answer any questions you may have. For organizational purposes, we should be most grateful if you would confirm your participation by email to flavien.rey@icvolunteers.org or telephone 022 800 1436 Posted: 2009-1-06 Updated: 2009-1-07 |
